What Do We Offer?

Among the many things we endeavour to offer are Christian fellowship, prayer, regular services, activities for all ages, and care at life’s most significant moments.

Christian Fellowship

We strive to follow the example of Christ, and we welcome those who would like to join us on our path. Christianity is about relationship and community, and the best way to find out about faith and prayer, to raise questions and to get help, is to meet some fellow Christians. We seek to work alongside other Christian churches and denominations as closely as we can.

Prayer

In our services we pray for our community. We are always pleased to receive prayer requests for those who are unwell, distressed or in need. Please make requests to the Vicar or Churchwardens, or e-mail us at officeaswinterton@gmail.com.

Home and Hospital Visits

If you would like the Vicar or a member of our Local Ministry Team to visit you at home or in hospital, please do let us know. We are able to offer home communion to those who are not able to get to the church.

Weekly Services

There are regular church services at All Saints’. Please refer to Church Services. You will be made very welcome whether you can join us regularly or just once in a while. Sometimes the service pattern is changed, so do please check our calendar.

Annual Services

Throughout the year we have regular special services, usually including Holy Week services before Easter; Easter services; Advent, Christingle and Christmas services; All Souls; Remembrance Day; and our Annual Ecumenical Covenant Service with our friends at Trinity Methodist, among many more. You are welcome to join us.

Lent Course

Each year we offer a Lent Course in conjunction with Trinity Methodist Church. Details are published each year.

Children’s Activities

These include special Children’s Workshops at Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas. Further details are available from the Vicar.

Social Events

Our very active Social and Fundraising Committee arranges a programme of regular events including concerts, ceilidhs, drama and talks. We hope that these will offer fellowship, enjoyment and entertainment for you.

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

Thanksgiving Services

The Vicar is always pleased to consider thanksgiving services, which may be planned to mark a significant wedding anniversary or a recent civil wedding ceremony. It may also be appropriate for such a service to mark the life of a recently departed relative.

Winterton Church Organ School

All Saints’ subsidises the Organ School to help make it available to any school or college student in our area of North Lincolnshire who has the potential to learn to play the church organ. The Church is keen to encourage new young organ players in our area, and we are now seeking new students. For more details contact Robin Shawyer on 01724 734285.

Floodlit Church

At present the church floodlights are worn out and not in use. Once renewed they will provide a beautiful view of the church on dark evenings. It may be possible for All Saints’ to switch them on to mark your special anniversary or family occasion. For further details see Church Floodlights.

Magazine

We provide a regular monthly parish magazine. For full details please see Parish Magazine.

Bellringing

We are lucky that our six church bells are in good working order, and they are rung regularly by our team of bellringers. Thursday evening is a practice night, and the bells can also be heard on other occasions. Ringers are usually available for weddings, and muffled bells can be sounded at funerals if requested. Tower Clock

Our clock on the tower dates from the time when most people did not have watches. It is still operated by the original 1834 mechanism, which was designed and made in Winterton. It has to be wound every week by our Clock Keeper. For more details see Church Clock.

Website

We started this website in 2009 to make available as much information about our church as we can. We hope that this will help all those in our community to be aware of what our church offers.

Heritage

Parts of our Grade I Listed church building at All Saints’ are at least 1,000 years old. The church is itself a most important part of the heritage of Winterton, and there are also historical records relating to Winterton still held at the church. A section of our website is devoted to this heritage so that the details are more accessible.
